Chapter Four

Chapter 4
“Soph?” Sian asked as she played with Lauren’s doll house with her in the living room.
“Yeah?” Sophie replied from the kitchen as she cooked sausage sandwiches.
“I don’t think I can face Ryan, not until...” she started, then paused when Sophie walked in,
“Not until what?” she asked confused,
“Not until I know that this...” She gestured to herself and Sophie “Is for real...”
Sophie walked over and crouched down beside her and kissed her,
“What do you think?” Sophie smiled then got up and walked back to the kitchen still beaming to herself.
“Will you come back with me? I need to leave Ryan, I don’t love him Sophie.” Sian asked. Sophie nodded and smiled at Sian.
Sophie strapped Lauren into her car seat in the back of Sian’s car then got into the front passenger seat beside Sian. Sian traced her finger over the scar near Sophie’s right eye. Sophie blushed and took Sian’s hand. Sian began to drive towards her Wilmslow.
A few minutes after they left Coronation Street Sophie began to worry,
“Sian, when we get there I’ll wait in the car with Lauren while you go inside. All you need to do is tell him you’re leaving him and staying with your mum with Harry for a while then go upstairs pack a bag and leave. If he asks why, you just want to think for a while,” Sian agreed, Ryan would go mad if he found out about Sophie, he went mad enough the first time.
Sian pulled up outside the house and froze,
“Soph I can’t do it,” She worried and stared out of the windscreen.
“Sian,” Sian turned her head to face Sophie. Sophie leaned in and kissed her “Go on,” Sian quickly got out of the car and her legs felt numb as she walked toward the front door and her hands shook as she turned the key in the front door. She walked up the stairs and into Harry’s bedroom. She picked him up and carried him into her bedroom where she was faced with the absolute shock of her life.
“Ryan?!” Sian shouted. She couldn’t believe it. Tears started flooding; he was in bed with another woman. He sat up quickly, startled. She didn’t recognise the woman, but she was quite pretty. Slightly tanned skin, deep brown eyes and dark brown hair, it was too bad she was naked and sleeping with her husband, she may have looked quite friendly, other than a dirty slag. She went and put Harry back into his cot and ran back into the bedroom. Ryan and the woman were still sat in bed, shocked. Sian didn’t say anything she just got a bag and shoved all of her things inside then went into Harry’s room with tears streaming down her face. She picked him up and wrapped him in a blanket and put him in the car seat. She put his things into the bag, picked the car seat up, picked up the bag and prepared to leave. Ryan ran out and blocked the door.
“Sian I’m really sorry!”
“Just go Ryan, I can’t stay here with you and her in there, have a nice life Ryan.” Sian’s phone beeped and she looked at the text; it was from Sophie asking what was going on.
“Who’s that from?” he asked,
“That has nothing to do with you.” Sian shouted in his face, but it was too late, he took the phone from her and read it,
“What’s going on babe? Are you okay? Sophie. That had better not be Sophie Webster Sian.” He shouted,
“What’s it to you?” she said quietly. He then slapped her hard across the face, making her drop Harry’s car seat and fall backwards banging her head against the radiator. She was unconscious. Ryan started to panic, and got out his phone and called 999. He picked up Harry who luckily was okay.
Sophie had been waiting in the car for almost an hour and had started to begin to worry, but when she saw the ambulance speed towards the house, she knew something was definitely wrong. She got out of the car in less than a second and ran to get Lauren, who was fast asleep, out of the car. She carried her as she ran towards the house. Sian was being brought out on a stretcher and wheeled onto the ambulance.
“Are you a friend?” a paramedic asked as Sophie watched Ryan get taken into a police car for abuse and the girl he’d slept with walk out of the house embarrassed.
“You could say that...” Sophie replied, tears in her eyes as she watched Sian, “I’ll follow you with the kids in the car,” the paramedic nodded and shut the door of the ambulance.
Through tears, Sophie managed to follow the ambulance to Weatherfield General Hospital with Harry and Lauren in the back, both asleep and oblivious to what had happened to their mum.
Slightly managing to carry two small children and eyes filled with tears, Sophie walked into the waiting room, and sat and cried as she waited for more news on Sian.

Chapter Three

Chapter 3
Sophie and Sian arranged to meet at the new Italian in Weatherfield on Friday night at 7pm. Sian had told Ryan she was going out with her mum, she knew he wouldn’t let her go if he found out she was going with Sophie.
Sophie sat in her room and stared at herself in the mirror. She’d curled her hair, applied her make up perfectly and bought a new black dress. “Is this too much?” She asked herself as she began to get sweaty palms over this dinner. They were only going as friends, Sian was probably married now anyway, and so did she really have to make so much effort?
Sian was doing the exact same thing. Staring at herself in the mirror. Staring at her perfect hair, perfect make up, perfect dress. She looked at her phone, if she didn’t leave now she was going to be late, but Ryan wasn’t back yet. “Shit” She thought.
Sophie walked down to the living room where her best friend Katie was sat playing with Lauren.
“Well don’t you look gorgeous Soph!” she smiled when Sophie appeared.
“Thanks Katie, but don’t you think it’s too much?” She asked unsure.
“Nope! Perfect!” She laughed and lifted up Lauren “Now, you are going to go and see Sian, you are going to see how amazingly perfect she looks, then remind yourself that she’s probably taken, which will make her want you even more...” she winked.
“Shut up, bye bye gorgeous girl!” She said and kissed Lauren’s forehead, “Be good for Auntie Katie!”
“Bye bye mummy!” Lauren giggled and clapped her fat podgy hands and blew a kiss before Sophie walked out the front door and towards the bus stop.
Ryan got home just in time, so that Sian could get straight out of the door as soon as he walked in. She drove over the speed limit to get to the restaurant on time; she was desperate to see Sophie.
Meanwhile Sophie sat at the table in the restaurant waiting. She checked her phone, worrying whether or not Sian was going to stand her up. She probably had an excuse; her new boyfriend wouldn’t let her go on a date with her ex-girlfriend, she had an important meeting to attend or she just could she just not be able to face Sophie?
Sian sped through the streets, checking the time every so often. Sophie would have started to worry now; she knew what Sophie was like, worrying at every little thing.
Sophie sat for nearly an hour alone eyes filling up with tears. Sian had stood her up, and she knew exactly the reason why. She was scared in case something happened between them again, so decided to go back. Her tears brimmed over and spilled down her face as she picked up her coat and bag and prepared to walk out. She looked toward the door and was almost knocked over by the sight she saw walk through the door. The beauty of her made Sophie’s heart almost burst out of her chest with the love she felt for this girl, the memories she’d sealed away in her mind spread through her. Sian shone a beaming smile at Sophie, making Sophie forget the bad memories and the love burned in her heart.
Sian, felt the exact same. The love she’d all but forgotten about filled her body and she felt the sudden urge to...no, she couldn’t...
They sat, ate, drank champagne and chatted nonstop for what seemed like half an hour, but before they knew it, it was time for the restaurant to close. Sian told Sophie about Ryan and Harry and she felt guilty when Sophie’s face dropped and her eyes started to get teary, but at this moment, Sophie was the only one in Sian’s mind.
“Listen Sian, do you want to come back to mine and see Lauren? We can open a bottle of wine and watch a DVD?” Sophie asked and watched Sian’s face light up,
“That would be amazing! Thanks Soph,” she smiled as they walked out of the restaurant into the cold night together.
“Are we walking back? There are no more buses and you are too drunk to drive!” Sophie giggled, drunk herself. Sian laughed and agreed, so they turned right and walked back to Coronation Street.
When they reached the house Sophie looked through the window, Katie was asleep on the couch. She shushed Sian and told her to wait down the alleyway at the side of the house and went in. Katie woke up and Sophie gave her £10, hugged Katie before she left. Sian walked in not long after giggling.
Lauren was fast asleep but Sian sat next to her bed for half an hour while Sophie got the DVD and the drinks ready.
The girls sat on the sofa and watched the film together drinking wine and snuggled up with each other. Sian couldn’t care less about Ryan; she’d rather be with Sophie.
Halfway through the film, Sophie turned her head to look at Sian. Sian turned at looked into Sophie’s eyes, and then she leaned in to kiss her. The kiss lasted for 5 minutes or so, before Sian pulled away and sat with her head in her hands.
“Sian, I don’t know why that just happened... I’m so sorry,” Sophie said worriedly,
“It’s not that,” Sian replied and looked into Sophie’s pale blue eyes, “It’s just... I’ve only just realised that I haven’t ever loved Ryan, and I only got with him to attempt to get over you. But that never happened,”
Sophie bit her lip and kissed Sian, which turned into a make out on the sofa.
“I love you Sophie and I really do regret what happened,” Sian said “I just really wish you can forgive me...”
Sophie looked Sian’s pleading face up and down then took her hand and softly pecked her lips,
“Does that count as an answer?” she giggled and Sian smiled then got her phone out
“Do you mind if I stay here tonight, it’s too late to go home?” Sian asked. Sophie nodded whilst Sian began to text Ryan saying she was staying at her mum’s in Southport.
“Shall we go up to bed now? It’s nearly 2am,” Sophie asked Sian and she nodded smiling.
Sian went to the spare room and put on a pair of Sophie’s pyjamas, got into the bed and lay staring at the ceiling.
Sophie went to her bedroom and put on a pair of pyjamas, got into bed and got into bed and lay staring at the ceiling.
An hour passed and Sian’s tears had almost soaked her pillow. She realised that this love was too strong to ignore, a million times stronger than Ryan’s. It was as if Sophie was her drug. She looked at her left hand and stared at the silver wedding band with pure hatred. She took it off and placed it on the bedside cabinet next to her and stood up. Her bare feet padded along the carpet and into Sophie’s bedroom. Sophie rolled over and looked toward the door and smiled as Sian got into the bed with her. They stared into each other’s eyes for a while until they kissed passionately and Sophie held Sian in her arms while she cried, then they fell asleep, their hands entwined. Sophie smiled in her sleep as she dreamed of Sian.

Chapter Two

Chapter 2
Sophie spent most of her day at the nursery and at the park with Lauren, she usually avoided going home, it reminded her of Sian.
Lauren ran around the park and played with the other kids there whilst Sophie sat on a bench watching her daughter. She got out her mobile and looked through her pictures. Her wallpaper was of Lauren. Sophie had chosen the dad so that her baby would have Sian’s blonde hair, so they’d feel as if she was both of theirs. Sian adopted Lauren as soon as she’d been born, so Sian was legally still Lauren’s mother.
Whilst going through photographs of her daughter, she came across one of herself and Sian a few weeks before they split, Sophie’s head was snuggled into Sian’s neck and they were watching TV. Rosie probably took it whilst they weren’t looking. Sophie reached to her neck and twiddled around with the silver necklace, the one she and Sian had bought each other.
Sophie sat and thought for a while, before she realised the time and took Lauren home.
By 9pm, Lauren was fast asleep and Sophie was alone, once again. She got out her laptop and checked her facebook, twitter and then her emails. She almost dropped the laptop when she saw the latest one. She didn’t know whether to open it in case it was a wind up, so she sat and stared at the sender. Sophie picked up her mobile and dialled in Rosie’s number.
“Rosie Webster!” a bright cheerful voice answered.
“Rosie? It’s Sophie, I...I’ve got an email...from Sian...” She said, her voice shaking.
“Really? Well...what does it say babe?” Rosie asked,
“I don’t know, I haven’t opened it yet have I...” Sophie replied.
“Well open it then babe!” Rosie said down the phone, Sophie could tell she was smiling; her sister really was Rosie by name Rosie by nature...
“I’m scared Rosie...” Sophie whispered,
“What? Why? It’s only an email! It’s not as if she can hurt you through a computer!” She laughed,
“I guess so...will you stay on the phone with me?” Sophie asked her sister pleadingly.
“Soph, I wish I could, but I’ve got a totally amazing and like really well paying shoot in like 10 minutes! It’s for an alcohol company!” She giggled excitedly,
“Right, okay then, see you later,” Sophie said, sounding quite fed up.
“Ciao babe!” Rosie said and hung up. Sophie sighed and drew her attention back to the email still waiting unopened on her laptop screen. She still couldn’t believe it. After no contact whatsoever for 3 years, this was it. She double clicked the email and began to read.

From: sianiebabie8@hotmail.co.uk
Subject: Hey
Sophie,
I totally understand if you ignore this email, and if you want me totally out of your life then I know why, but we really need to talk Soph and I just need to know that you’re okay.
So how about we go out for dinner next Saturday night? Just me and you? Text me, you still have my number don’t you?
I am truly sorry Sophie,
Sian xxx
Sophie sat for a while, in utter disbelief. She couldn’t get her head around it. She picked up her phone and dialled in Rosie’s number and explained to her everything the email had said. Rosie told her to call Sian, but Sophie wasn’t too sure.
No New Messages. Sian was getting fed up now, she didn’t expect to get a reply, but she could still hope.
Ryan usually got back home from work at 7, leaving Sian alone, waiting with Harry all day. This was the first time she’d felt like this since after she became Mrs Connor the year before; this was the first time she actually missed Sophie, and just wanted her there to cuddle. Why did she want her so badly? No, need her? This had never happened before.
Every 5 minutes she checked her phone, hoping even more when there weren’t any texts or missed calls. All she could picture in her head was Sophie, Sophie smiling, Sophie laughing, Sophie crying, Sophie’s eyes bursting with love as she stared into Sian’s eyes, Sophie.
She cooked dinner at 6, but stopped because all she could see was a blur, the tears she had been shedding all day hadn’t stopped. This wasn’t want she was feeling, it wasn’t need either. It was so much stronger than that, she couldn’t admit it to herself either.
Ryan texted her at 7, saying he wouldn’t be back until late, he was going out with some mates from work. Sian put Harry to bed and sat in the dark living room crying.
Sian sat up, startled. She looked at the clock, 11pm, she must have fallen asleep. She looked to her right, where her phone was flashing. She picked it up, the bright light straining her eyes in the dark room. Her breath caught when she saw the sender of the text and she opened it quickly.
From: Sophie
Sian how cud I ignore ur email! I had 2 think 4 a bit, but I’d luv 2 go out! How bout next fri night?
Soph xxx
A smile spread right across Sian’s face as she texted Sophie back, more tears fell, but these were ones of happiness.
